Jason Kelce Gets Retirement Weight Loss Advice From Arnold Schwarzenegger

Now that Jason Kelce is officially retired from the NFL, he’s quite understandably putting a focus on his health. And on his New Heights podcast that he host with his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagles center got some weight loss tips from none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was a special guest on Wednesday’s new episode.

After doing a bit of extended fangirling over Schwarzenegger’s extensive film catalog, the subject turned to fitness and weight loss.

“I’m in the process right now, I’m retired. I’ve played my whole career at 295,” Jason explained. “I’m trying to get down to 250, 260. My goal is two pounds every week, lose it, because I want to lose it, but maintain my muscle mass. And I’m trying to monitor my protein, my carbs, and my fats and make sure that I’m hitting at least one pound per body weight.”

When asked if that was “the model” for weight loss success, the Terminator star was able to impart the advice he picked up during his decades-long bodybuilding career.

“The most important thing is that you slowly decrease the body fat and increase the body muscles,” Schwarzenegger revealed. “So, you just switch. It doesn’t have to just do with the weight—of course you want to reduce weight, because it’s much healthier, you can get much faster, and much more energetic—but you want to slowly decrease the fat and increase the muscle mass.”

“That is the key thing,” the 76-year-old continued. “So with the exercising and with the machines and the weights and all that stuff, you should he able to do that very easily. I know you have lifted some serious weight.”

Previously in the conversation, Travis revealed that his brother had gone on a vegan diet, but admitted that he couldn’t cut it himself. “Jason’s real vegan. I always was out on vegan. I tried it one week and couldn’t do it,” he confessed. “I needed way more protein than beans.”

Suffice to say, while he cracks down on his weight loss goals, it sounds like Jason’s foreseeable future will have decidedly less sausage, egg, and cheese McMuffins in it.
